International Congress on Vine-growing in the Mountains and on Steep Slopes

A congress dedicated exclusively to vine-growing in the mountains and on steep slopes.
The Congress on vine-growing in the mountains and on steep slopes is one of the two main events organised by the CERVIM.
The first edition which took place in March 2006 at Saint Vincent (Aosta Valley) was a huge success, surpassing our expectations both in the number and the quality of the attendees. For this reason it was decided to repeat this scientific gathering every two years.

The main theme of the second edition of the Congress held in Spain at Monforte de Lemos in Ribeira Sacra in  March 2008 was again to exchange views and learn from each other by discussing the various issues connected with growing vines in the mountains and on steep slopes.

The third edition took place again in Italy, in Castiglione di Sicilia in the province of Catania on May, 2010.

The fourth  edition took place in France, in Lyon (Rhône-Alps) on November 2012.

The congress usually includes the presentation of scientific works subdivided into sessions on different topics:
  • History and culture of growing vines in the mountains and on steep slopes;
  • Grape-producing and wine-making technology;
  • Economic and social aspects;
  • Environment and landscape
This scientific meeting also provides an opportunity to get to know new areas and discover their merits and characteristics.
